मेनका गांधी ने बताया- क्यों सही है सैनिटरी पैड पर GST लगना

अक्षय कुमार की फिल्म पैडमैन इस शुक्रवार को सिनेमाघरों में रिलीज हो रही है. यह बॉलीवुड की पहली फिल्म है, जो मेन्सटूरेशन हाइजिन के प्रति जागरुक करती है. इस फिल्म के सामने आने के बाद सैनिटरी नैपकिन पर GST हटाने की मुहिम भी तेज हुई है. इस मुद्दे पर केंद्रीय महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्री मेनका गांधी ने कहा कि सैनिटरी पैड पर 12 फीसदी जीएसटी लगाना सही है. मेनका गांधी ने कहा, यह 18% से कम हो गया है. इस समय बाजार पर मल्टीनेशनल कंपनियों का राज है. इसलिए मल्टीनेशनल कंपनियों पर भी 12 फीसदी जीएसटी लगेगा, नहीं तो पूरा बाजार खत्म हो जाएगा. इससे स्वदेशी पैड खत्म हो जाएंगे. इससे पहले मेनका गांधी ने वित्तमंत्री अरुण जेटली को पत्र लिखकर GST के अंतर्गत ईको-फ्रेंडली और बायोडिग्रेडेबल सैनिटरी नैपकिन को 100 फीसदी टैक्स मुक्त करने की अपील की थी. उन्होंने कहा, मंत्रालय पहली बार सैनिटरी पैड को अन्य माध्यमों से उपलब्ध कराने के लिए काम कर रहा है. स्वयं-सहायता समूहों को सैनिटरी पैड बनाने के लिए प्रोत्साहित कर रहा है. उन्होंने कहा, मल्टीनेशनल कंपनियों को यहां लाने की अपेक्षा अगर हम लोन सिस्ट...

GST exemption limit enhanced to Rs 7,500 for monthly charges paid to a housing society

Monthly maintenance charges, which one pays to co-operative housing society (CHS) or to be specific to its resident welfare association (RWA), will not attract Goods and Service Tax (GST), provided such charges are Rs. 7,500 or less per month. ‎The  GST Council  in its meeting held in January has enhanced the threshold applicability limit. Earlier GST was applicable if the monthly bill was more than Rs. 5,000 per month. The new limits apply from January 25.                          ‎There is no change in the GST registration requirement for CHS.  It has to register if it's annual turnover is Rs. 20 lakh or more.
